Ned again, we continue to explore the Cambletown area. From the same distillery as last week, we get the Springbank CV this week. Opened in 1828, this is one of the oldest distilleries going. Dried over peat unlike the Hazelburn of last week, I hope it is enjoyed.
Hum, this one has a bit of a medicinal nose, and definitely if you had an ill, a full glass of this would numb your pain...
ReplyDeleteSo, a good "in your face" drop of whisky this. Strong taste, full burn means an overall decent experience, especially on a brisk Maine evening.
Another thumbs up Ned!
Color: very pale gold
ReplyDeleteNose: very powerful alcoholic aroma with light hints of peat. I am apprehensive as to the taste. Oh well, here goes.
1st sip: some warm honey taste quickly followed by a strong burn 2nd sip: some caramel with the burn. a little licorice aftertaste. A splash: tames it some, but not much. Still, the effect is pleasant. And the warmth stays in the front of the mouth. An ice cube: keeps the warmth. This is one for an icy northwest wind ablowing out there.
